Dark Zodiac

Jack Redd is a busy guy, and that’s an understatement. As most sketch card collectors and readers of this site will know he’s a very talented illustrator. He has worked on some high profile sets, and recently created a new card sized digest magazine called sketch life, which is very very good, oh and he’s started publishing his own card set.  I have seen a lot of card products but this one really is something different and innovative. Jack has created a set of cards around the zodiac, two basic cards for each star sign and two harder to find chase cards for each month as well. Add into that sketch cards and your looking at a very interesting set.

The release is staggered over the 12 months, and the packs are limited to just 1000 every month. Each pack will contain  both basic cards making this an easy and affordable basic set (they are £1.50 ($2.40) per pack) but you also have the chance to obtain the chase cards (two per month) at a ratio of 1:5 packs and the sketches fall at 1:10 packs

Every month Jack illustrates one of the basic cards and has a guest artist illustrate another,  keeping the subject fresh and the set full of different styles. The first packs were Aries (pictured above) and they sold out very very quickly, which is only to be expected when you see the cards themselves. They are very high quality with a double gloss coating that really accentuates the detailed art. The image on the left shows both the basic cards and one of the chase (white background)  cards from the now sold out Aries instalment. We are going to be giving away some sets of basic cards to a few lucky winners.

If you want to win a set of Dark Zodiac Aries basic cards you have to do a little work, you can send your twitter followers to this page by re-tweeting the article, Like and repost it on facebook, or if you don’t do that social media stuff simply post in the comments. All winners will receive the two card basic set AND some extra bonuses from around the Cult-Stuff offices. The competition will close whenever we get around to closing it, so act fast! Winners will be chosen at random and we will attempt to chose at least one from the comments, facebook and twitter. Feel free to enter in as many ways as you wish.

Don’t forget to check out the official ReddLife site for updates on both the SketchLife  magazine and the Dark Zodiac sets.

These cards look great, the artists are really outdoing themselves on some of this stuff. The price point for this product is also superb. Well worth supporting. Thanks also to Cult-Stuff for doing the competition.
