Disney Marvel Ebay Update: and Follow-ups

So the Marvel /Disney sketch news we posted about last week has been picked up and read in one form or another by a lot of folks, and the same story has been posted on many sites. The fact is however it looks more and more like it is a storm in a teacup.

Thus far we have not had any information about other artists being removed from eBay, and the original bans are due to expire in the next few days, (they were 7 day exclusions rather than permanent removals) and the artists in question have been exposed to a lot of comment a publicity from with in the smaller card community, but also from the larger comic community as well. Not all of it was pleasant, and some of it was completely uncalled for, but then again being called names by someone who knows more about Batman than personal hygiene well, I guess you just have to considered the source you know?

Last week Rich Johnston from Bleedingcool.com received information from a Marvel employee that the removal of SOME art was a common and weekly practice, and that below par art was often removed from ebay. The fact is art, as we all know is subjective and a matter of personal taste. I guess someone felt like picking on these guys that week. In the absence of any other information this is the logical conclusion. I want to make this very clear: The artist in question were suspended from ebay for 7 days  not banned for life, in case I was not clear before.

On another note:

What the hell happened to Strictly Ink’s website? It used to have a lot of information on past released future releases and all kinds of other projects, now it looks a lot like a shut shop. I have yet to hear of any new forthcoming sets from them, now that the Dr Who Big Screen Monochrome set is out and over with and his ebay name has zero listings even though he’s paying for an shop.  Are they pulling out of cards or simply re doing the site (again) which has been up and down 3 or 4 times in the last 12 months at least? For a company that courts controversy so often they are remaining remarkably silent.
